Martindale

Established north-east community with its own CTrain station and mature streetscapes.

Profile

About Martindale

Martindale is an established north-east community developed from the late 1980s, south-west of Saddle Ridge. It is one of the few Calgary communities with a CTrain station inside it: Martindale station sits on the Blue Line, one stop before the Saddletowne terminus.

The community is fully built out with mature landscaping, open schools and local retail. Its combination of rail access and comparatively low prices has made it a long-standing entry point into the Calgary market for first-time buyers.

There is no new construction. Martindale is included here because rail access is the single amenity none of the new north-east communities has, which makes it a useful comparison for anyone weighing a transit commute against new construction.

Commute note: Approximate drive to downtown Calgary via Deerfoot Trail, or roughly 28 minutes on the Blue Line from Martindale station. Off-peak roughly 21 minutes, peak roughly 27 minutes.

Considerations

  • No new construction; the market is resale and occasional infill.
  • Homes from the early phases need major component replacement.
  • Aircraft flight paths affect parts of the north-east.
  • Density and street parking near the station are higher than in newer communities.

    FAQ

    Questions about Martindale

Not in the same community. Martindale and Saddle Ridge contain the north-east stations, and both are fully built out. Every active new build community in the quadrant, including Cornerstone, Homestead and Savanna, connects to the Blue Line by bus. Savanna is the closest of them to a station.
