Cornerstone

Northeast Calgary's largest active community, with the widest builder line-up in the quadrant.

Profile

About Cornerstone

Cornerstone is an Anthem United community north of Country Hills Boulevard and east of Metis Trail, in the growth corridor between Stoney Trail and the Calgary International Airport. It is the largest active new home community in Northeast Calgary and, in most years, one of the busiest in the city by permit count.

The community is planned around a central park and plaza with a commercial site on Country Hills Boulevard. Product runs from apartment condos and townhomes through duplexes, laned homes and front-drive garage homes, which is why Cornerstone carries the widest range of entry price points of any single community in Calgary.

Cornerstone is still building out. Northern and eastern phases sit next to open land and active construction, and the commercial and school sites are delivered on the developer schedule rather than the buyer schedule. Buyers trade a shorter amenity wait in the older southern phases against more lot choice in the newer ones.

Commute note: Approximate drive to downtown Calgary via Stoney Trail and Deerfoot Trail. The airport is roughly 12 minutes away. Off-peak roughly 24 minutes, peak roughly 32 minutes.

Highlights

  • The largest selection of builders and product types in Northeast Calgary.
  • Central park, plaza and stormwater ponds with a connected pathway system.
  • Commercial site on Country Hills Boulevard for daily retail inside the community.
  • Direct Stoney Trail and Metis Trail access, and one of the shortest airport drives in the city.
  • Entry price points that are typically the most accessible in Calgary for new construction.

Considerations

  • Build-out continues, so newer phases live beside construction traffic and unfinished streetscapes.
  • Airport flight paths affect parts of the northeast; listen on site at different times of day.
  • No CTrain station in the community; the Blue Line ends at Saddletowne, south-west of here.
  • School sites are reserved in the plan but students may be bused to established communities until they open.

Fit

Who Cornerstone suits

A good fit if

  • First-time buyers who want the widest range of entry-level product in one community.
  • Airport and northeast logistics workers who want a short drive to work.
  • Buyers who want to compare many builders without leaving one community.

Look elsewhere if

  • If you want a finished streetscape now, Cityscape, Redstone and Skyview Ranch are further along.
  • If aircraft noise is a concern, communities south and west of the airport are quieter.

FAQ

Questions about Cornerstone

Cornerstone carries more entry-level product than any other active Calgary community, including apartment condos, townhomes, duplexes and laned homes from a long list of builders. That range, plus quick Stoney Trail access, is why it is a common first-home choice. The trade-off is that amenities inside the community are still being delivered phase by phase.
