Mature north-west community beside Creekside retail with a Scottish-themed street plan.

Profile

About Kincora

Kincora is a mature community in the Symons Valley area of north-west Calgary, immediately beside the Creekside retail centre and south of Stoney Trail. It was built out through the 2000s and is complete on the single-family side.

The community is known for its Scottish naming theme and for the ravine and pond system running through it. Its practical strength is location: Creekside, Beacon Hill and Sage Hill Quarter retail are all within a few minutes, so daily shopping needs no highway trip.

There is very little new construction left. Kincora belongs on a new build site mainly as a comparison point: it shows what the newer Symons Valley communities north of the ring road will look like once their landscaping matures and their retail opens.

Commute note: Approximate drive to downtown Calgary via Shaganappi Trail or Sarcee Trail. Off-peak roughly 28 minutes, peak roughly 38 minutes.

Highlights

  • Creekside retail immediately adjacent, with Beacon Hill and Sage Hill Quarter nearby.
  • Ravine, pond and pathway system through the community.
  • Mature landscaping and finished streetscapes.
  • Established schools and services in the surrounding area.

Considerations

  • Effectively no new construction; the market here is resale and occasional infill.
  • North-west peak commute of roughly 35 to 45 minutes to downtown.
  • No CTrain station in the community.
  • Some homes are now old enough to need roof, furnace and hot water tank replacement.
