Profile

About Didsbury

Didsbury is a town of roughly five thousand in Mountain View County, a few minutes north of Carstairs on the QEII corridor and about forty-five minutes from Calgary. It is the older and more settled of the two neighbouring towns, with a mature street grid, established trees and a preserved main street.

New construction here is modest. There is no large master-planned community and no volume builder programme of the kind found closer to Calgary; what exists is small subdivision phases, infill on town lots and custom building. Buyers are generally choosing Didsbury for the town itself rather than for selection.

For a town its size the services are strong. The Didsbury Memorial Complex carries an arena, an aquatic centre and a curling rink, schools cover the full range of grades, and there is a health centre in town. Larger retail is in Olds or Airdrie.

Commute note: Approximate drive to downtown Calgary via the QEII. Airdrie is roughly 35 minutes south. Off-peak roughly 48 minutes, peak roughly 65 minutes.

    FAQ

    Questions about Didsbury

Yes, but the market is small. There is no large master plan and no showhome parade, so new construction means a small subdivision phase, an infill lot or a custom build. Buyers who want to choose from a builder plan book with several communities to compare will find far more in Carstairs, Olds or Airdrie.
